Check out my It Ends with Us book summary and review  that I created to help you understand the basics of this great book. End With Us centers on Lily Bloom, a young college graduate who moves to Boston and opens her own flower business. She develops feelings for surgeon Ryle Kincaid, who is initially reluctant to have a serious relationship with her.

As her relationship blossoms, Lily has a sudden encounter with her first love, Atlas Corrigan. This reintroduction of Atlas threatens her relationship with Ryle and forces her to come to terms with the trauma of her past and present.

As Atlas becomes more prominent within the novel, we as the audience discover aspects of Ryle's life and personality that were once hidden from both us and Lily. Lily is forced to make a difficult decision between her two loves and which one is better for her life. In the novel's conclusion, Lily breaks up with Atlas after Ryle abuses her like her father abused her mother.

It Ends with Us

It Ends with Us book summary:

Lily didn't have a very simple childhood. Witnessing long-standing domestic violence, she decided to move to Boston to start a new life there. She opens her own flower shop and meets the ambitious and attractive neurosurgeon Ryl, who immediately wins her heart. They buy an apartment and get married after a while.

Everything falls in love with both lovers, until Lily reveals that her husband is in big trouble and is running away from his past. As a little boy, he accidentally shot his younger brother while they were playing with Dad's firearm. From that moment on, he has problems with aggression, which he cannot control.

In addition, Lily's first love, Atlas, comes to life, further complicating her relationship with Ryle. After the first incident, Lily tolerates his behavior, but the past often repeats itself once Ryle Lily really hurts. Lily has no friends in the new city, so the only possible support may be Atlas, who lets her live with her for a while.

Lily later finds out that she is pregnant and hides her condition from Ryl for a long time. Nothing lasts forever, and realizing that she is in the same situation as her mother years ago, she decides to end her relationship with Ryle. She doesn't want her little ones to consider her father a monster the way she considered her own. Ryle, despite the love he has for her, agrees.

Despite all the pain she suffers, Lily knows she's done the right thing. Not only for her little daughter, but for herself. Ryle is a great and loving father, he gets along well with Lily, and as the author says, "Bad people don't exist, just people who do bad things."It ends with us focusing on Lily Bloom, a young college graduate who moves to Boston and starts her own flower business.
