Angels & Demons book summary :

After the death of the Pope, one mysterious crime after another took place. At CERN, after the launch of the Large Hadron Collider, Leonardo Vetra (a scientist) was killed and a pot with antimatter was stolen. At the Swiss Guard headquarters, CCTV equipment with a countdown timer displays an image of a mysterious object.

The Vatican gendarmerie turned to Robert Langdon for help in solving the latest crime, and the Catholic Church turned to CERN, as the lab's brand is visible in the picture. Langdon realizes that the Illuminati's secret orders have risen from the ashes.

He suspects that the target of the criminal community should be sought at the Vatican, come to Rome and cooperate with the Swiss Guard, whose job is to ensure the safety of the Pontiff. On a journey through the Vatican, she is accompanied by the adopted daughter of the late CERN professor named Victoria.

He must find a container of antimatter, otherwise after 24 hours the battery will run out and an incredible energy explosion will occur. The pope ascended the throne after the death of the last pope in the state of Sদেde Vacante, and a conference is held in the Sistine Chapel, which should be named after the new primate of the Catholic Church. Four of the main candidates for the throne have been abducted.

Langdon has no doubt that the Illuminati is behind the abduction. He suspects the stolen pots and cardinals are in a secret meeting place in the Illuminati. In the old days, those who wished to join the ranks of the community had to find their way to this place with the help of the signs left by the Illuminati in the four corners of Rome, which formed the tops of the cross.

The only copy of Galileo's work preserved in the Vatican Archives (allegedly by the Illuminati), Langdon was able to find the names of the churches step by step. The sources prove to be the work of the great sculptor Bernini, who is also considered one of the Illuminati. At each top of the cross, Langdon finds the body of one of the abducted cardinals in his chest with an ambigram of the initial elements burned with red-hot iron:

In a crypt designed by Raphael, decorated by Bernini in the Chigi Chapel of the Church of Santa Maria del Popolo, he discovers that Cardinal Ebner was buried alive with his face on the ground. He has an ambigram of the word "earth" on his chest.

Peter in Bernini Square in front of St. Cathedral, he finds a painful cardinal lamas (lamas) with holes in the lungs. He has an ambigram on his chest for the word "air".

In the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, where the famous Bernini statue of St. Teresa Ecstasy is erected, Langdon sees the third Cardinal Guider hanging over the fire, with the ambigram of the word "fire" burning in his chest. Commander Olivetti (commander of the Vatican Gendarmerie) died in a gunfight, but Langdon was able to escape on his own.

The fourth point of the "Enlightened Path" is the Bernini Fountain of the Four Rivers of Piazza Navona; In it the killer drowns the bound cardinal bagia, which has an ambigram of the word "water" on its chest.

Eventually, the "enlightened path" takes Langdon to the so-called meeting place of the Illuminati - the ancient pope's castle of holy angels. He rises to the Temple of Light and confronts the assassin together with Vittoria. Using the Passato, he, along with Vitoria, enters the Vatican Palace.

It is learned that Carmelongo (the priest in charge of the Vatican in the vacancy of Holy See) Carlo Ventresca retired for a private visit with CERN director Maximilian Kohler.

This reinforces their suspicion that Kohli is the mastermind of the Illuminati conspiracy. Camerlengo cried, the door to his chamber shattered, Kohler was shot to death, and was able to transfer a videotape to Langdon before he died.
