 The Witcher book summary

The short stories were initially published by the Polish magazine Fantastyka, beginning in the mid-1980s. The first short story, called Wiedźmin (The Witcher), was written in 1986 for a contest held by that publication, and came in third place.

Later, the first four stories portraying the witcher Geralt of Rivia were included in a collection of short stories titled Wiedźmin along with Droga, z której się nie wraca (The Path of No Return), which takes place before the witcher stories.

The second collection of published short stories was Miecz przeznaczenia (The Sword of Destiny). Later, The Last Wish was published after this one, replacing Wiedźmin as the first of the books in chronological order, by including all the tales in the saga except The Road of No Return, becoming the beginning of the story retroactively. .

Between 1994 and 1999, five novels were published that make up the central body of the saga. These are: The Blood of the Goblins, The Time of Hate, The Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and The Lady of the Lake.

Coś się kończy, coś się zaczyna (When something ends, something begins) was subsequently published, a collection containing an alternative ending to the saga,

initially written for Sapkowski's friends, which included other stories not directly related to the series. . In some Polish editions, to The Last Wish or The Sword of Destiny, the stories The Road of No Return and When something ends, something begins were added.

In 2013, Sapkowski returned to the series with a final novel, Season of Storms. This is an independent story of the central saga.
